Hi there! I’m Nic

  • My therapeutic foundation is rooted in humanistic, client-centered, and relational approaches. I specialize in treating many types of trauma, ranging from various forms of relational abuse to experiencing or witnessing death and shock trauma.

Other concerns I have experience treating are: Anxiety, stress, fatigue and burnout, self-esteem issues, grief/loss, depression, antagonistic relational stress, and other relational difficulties. I utilize skillsets and interventions from different therapeutic modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), The Gottman Method, Somatic Experiencing (SE), wellness principles, and neuroscience.

I have been practicing clinically since 2015 and have clinical experience in both the residential and outpatient mental health settings. My primary therapeutic experience is with adolescents, adults, older adults, and couples.

  • Unconditional positive regard, genuineness, empathy, curiosity, and respect are values I hold dear. I also sprinkle in a little humor here and there.

I am a compassionately direct and transparent Therapist who will strive to support you towards the goals and objectives you specify. I place significant value on collaboration throughout each session.

I am attentive and will often help identify, and reinforce, your innate skills, understanding, and capabilities to adaptive manage and resolve your concerns.

  • I’ve always found myself in “helping” roles or positions. In middle school and high school, I was the “go-to” guy for problems my friends were facing and tried to identify solutions to many problems I encountered.

Throughout my college years, I always had an interest in the psychology of people, how we connect, how we feel valued, and how we interact with the various systems in our lives. Throughout many of my ventures and interests, I have found meaning to working with people and helping them understand their thoughts, feelings, and relationships. (Also, math was always a grind for me. Thankfully, most human processes and interactions are not mathematical).

  • Sure,

Jurassic Park is one of the best movies out there!

I was a Wildland Firefighter for many years….(As a result of these experiences I have additional interests in clinically supporting First Responders, Wildland Firefighters and support staff, Government Employees, Active-Duty Military, Veterans, and their families).

My current favorite past-times are: Photography, hiking, and snowboarding.

  • Good question:

Nicolais - (Pronounced just like “Nicholas”)

    Cuyle - (Pronounced like “Kyle”)

However, any way that you want to pronounce it is fine with me. (I’ve heard some cool pronunciations)!
